Handmade Christmas Wreaths

Wreath time is here and orders have been trickling in Ive now claimed a cupboard in the kitchen for all my sundries for the next month! Here are a couple of pictures of wreaths, the large traditional wreath was ordered by Angela last year and looked great with their new front door, the heart one is available from Verity Home in Penrith and is pictured with Rachel and Jason whose shop it is Ill be adding a table arrangement this week so go and have a look! Look out at the beginning of December for wreaths at The George and Dragon at Clifton and The Yanwath Gate Inn too!

Christmas is Coming!!

Well in the world of floristry Christmas is fast approaching, so Ive been busy preparing, so far all my orange slices are dried ,thanks to Lee for slicing them, Ive collected some cones and some new ribbon - red and cream with hearts very Christmas 2010, unfortunately Im having trouble getting moss for wreath bases. Im attending 'Wrapped' at Greystoke Castle on tuesday 7th Dec 10-4, also a demo at Penruddock and then at Gt Asby on 14th December so will be good to see the Asby ladies again!
The trends for Christmas 2010 seem to be mainly red and white scandanavian touches, so Ill be incorporating that into my wreaths also theyll be pheasent feathers used and Ive seen a lovely wreath made of leaves in my new Fusion Flowers magazine so watch this space or my Facebook Page (Greenwheat Flowers) for some pics, Ill also by trying my new idea wool Vase Covers very cute and brighten up your plain glass vases!

Autumn 2010

Hello here is my autumn blog and a very busy autumn its been too! Ive been planning my ideas/themes for Christmas!, now have a page on Facebook! and have joined the Womens Rural Network, I went along to their november meeting finding a last minute babysitter-thanks India where the speaker were Claire from Snugbaby who Id read about in the Cumberland News and was great to see her in 'real life' and Nicola from CottonBaby who made me think I should have used natural nappies with my two!the meeting was held a High Head Sculpture Valley so we had the chance to have a quick look at the artwork on offer too!
Heres a picture of my autumn door heart- very in at the moment onto a foam base Ive added allotment herbs, sunflower heads, Aileens quinces, chive flowers autumn leaves, moss and kermit chrysanths!

September

September marks the start of autumn we managed a little holiday at Silverdale and Arnside , we had a great time went swimming took the train to Grange-over-sands and had a day in Morcambe, we all came back very relaxed and Bill got his plaster of his leg that had been on a month- what a relief! This was swiftly followed by Jennie and Leons wedding ar the Inn on the Lake at Glennridding, with a lovely blue and lilac theme using home grown cornflowers.

Summer 2010- part 2!

The second half of the summer was pretty busy too! In late August I had the gorgeous wedding of Sarah and Ed, with ceremony at Kirkby Thore Church it was decorated with mettalina and sweet avalanche roses, pink hydrangeas, bells of ireland and delphiniums. In the marquee there were candlelabras on all tables and silver milk churns with tall arrangements on them, the douquets were gorgeous and looked great with the bridesmaids dusky dresses, when I was ordering the roses I asked for green roses , and was delighted when I was sent supergreen roses they had crinkly edges and slightly scented!!!

Four Weddings and a Funeral- Summer 2010

Well its now nearly winterand Ive left it far too long for a seasonal update so here it is, better late than never.
June started summer early with the wedding a my brother in law Nik to his lovely girlfriend Rebecca, it was a boiling hot day with the ceremony at Greystoke Castle, followed by the reception at The Roundthorn Country House Hotel, on the table were glass cake stands with a ring arrangement on the bottom tier and tealights on top, Rebecca carried a small handtied white and green posy which went perfectly with her perfect 1950's style dress. Also in June my grandad died and I was given the chance to do the flowerswhich were a combination of different styles from the traditional to the very contempary including a large coffin spray in reds and yellow and a Seddon-Atkinson wagon badge, which took about 4 hours to make!
July was another busy month with Alex and Jeffs lovely wedding in the garden at Laurel House, we had planned for all weathers apart from wind! which proved to be a bit of a problem with the table cloths and place name settings never mind the vases of flowers!! luckily lots of pebbles frpm the path helped! The flower girls carried lovely little baskets of spray roses, freesias and cornflowers.
